Just this weekend was the deadline for the Coast Day Crab cake Cook-Off recipe contest. Crab cake lovers preferences of crab cakes vary. Some people like broiled crab cakes. Some people like fried crab cakes. Some like remoulade on their crab cakes. Others like lemon with their crab cakes.
This year will be the 23rd Coast Day Crab Cake Cook Off. Eight contenders will be selected to compete for a cash prize. The best cook will win a plaque and the opportunity to return as a judge in the following year.
The contest will be held on Coast Day, Sunday October 7th at the University of Delaware’s Hugh R. Sharp Campus in Lewes.
This will be an exciting event. You will also be happy to know that Maryland is making an Official best crabcake trail!
The Maryland crabcake trail is expected to stretch across the state from Ocean City to Red House in far western Garrett County.
If the crabcake trail is registered for Maryland, it will have its own website and iPhone app listing the best crabcake spots. The crabcake trail will include establishments using Maryland crabmeat. Box Hill Crab Cakes will make it on the list for being a true blue restaurant.
Fresh Maryland crab is available ¾ of the year.
