One of the most bittersweet holidays, Labor Day is both a celebration and a mourning of sorts. It’s a celebration of summer and summer activities, of the beach and vacations, a day to make up for all the hours you spent sitting in an office instead of outside during the nice summer weather. And yet, on Labor Day we mourn, for it’s the end of summer (not technically speaking but we’re being metaphorical here), a close to warm weather, long sunny evenings, and the carefree attitude that permeates the air during the summer. On Labor Day we celebrate that we don’t have to work for a day, and try to forget that we’ll be back at the office tomorrow, and our next long weekend won’t come until Thanksgiving (or Columbus Day, if you’re lucky).
So how can you make this Labor Day weekend one to remember? As any true Marylander knows, there’s only one way to really celebrate the end of summer, and that’s with Maryland’s most famous summer delicacy. That’s right, we’re talking about crab cakes. Box Hill crab cakes might as well be synonymous with Labor Day, as they embody the idea of summer in Maryland. Get some for yourself and your family and enjoy the deliciousness that is our jumbo lump crab cakes. Heck, if you get some for your boss too, there’s a chance he might give you Tuesday off as well, that’s how good they are. What do you have to lose? Stop in to Box Hill this weekend for some of our fantastic crab cakes and put a nice feather in the cap of your summer.
